Where It All Began
The Birth of KLCC Group

Where Our Philosophy Took Shape

The principles that guide us today were forged through a defining ambition to reimagine how a city could be planned, built and lived in, and in doing so, reflect a nation’s aspirations.

The story of Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) is not simply one of development. It marks a pivotal moment in Malaysia’s urban journey, when a site shaped by colonial history was re-envisioned as a symbol of progress, confidence and global relevance.

What stands today as the nucleus of Kuala Lumpur began with a single, deliberate idea: to create an integrated city that would endure in both purpose and meaning.

From Heritage Grounds to a National Landmark

Long before the PETRONAS Twin Towers defined the skyline, this 100-acre site was home to the Selangor Turf Club. Established in 1896, it served as a social and cultural gathering place that reflected the rhythm of its time.

In the early 1990s, the site was reimagined with a new purpose. The vision was clear: A "City within a City". A bridge between past and future. Development began in 1993, setting in motion a transformation defined by scale, precision and resolve.

The PETRONAS Twin Towers were conceived not simply as an architectural achievement, but as a statement of national capability demonstrating that Malaysia could deliver projects of global significance with confidence and discipline.

A City Grounded in Green and Public Life

As the city rose, equal attention was given to life at ground level. From the outset, KLCC was planned as a place for people not only to work, but to gather, move and pause.

KLCC Park was created as the green heart of the development. Designed by renowned landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx, the 50-acre park was envisioned as a tropical urban sanctuary, linking offices, retail spaces, hotels and residences through open, accessible green spaces.

It remains an essential part of the KLCC experience and reinforces the balance between density, nature and everyday urban life.

An Enduring Legacy, Still Evolving

Today, KLCC has matured into far more than a corporate address. It is a world-class integrated destination that continues to function as the heartbeat of Kuala Lumpur - economically, culturally and socially.

As we move through 2026 and beyond, we remain committed to stewarding this precinct with care. Guided by sustainability, long-term relevance and thoughtful management, we continue to shape places that serve real needs today while remaining meaningful for generations to come.

KLCC is managed not as a collection of buildings, but as a living environment. One that reflects Malaysia’s progress and stands as a lasting reference point for future city-making.
